BAL.ON smart kit is advertised as a training system for all areas of golf. The kit consists a pair of pressure-sensitive insoles, two smart pods, and a dedicated smartphone app. Let’s take a look.
Relying on pressure data and AI, it gives you real-time analysis and coaching.
The insoles have sensors in them and fit nicely into your golf shoes.
The smart pods are attached the insoles and clip onto your shoes.
They communicate with the app via Bluetooth.
You really don’t even notice that the insoles or smart pods are there. Having said that, I’ve worn thicker sport socks so far.
I’ve had this system for a relatively short period of time. My plan is to use them extensively for all types of golf shots.
BAL.ON should be very useful for putting and short game shots.
I have several devices to measure full swing metrics.
However, this is the only one that I have that measures ground force during the golf swing.
Simply put, it really measures weight shift and pressure on your feet during putts, short game shots and full swings.
This system takes video of your swing, records your pressure data, displays it in the app, and features an AI Smart Coach.
I say this for all these AI devices, “There is no substitute for a lesson from a PGA Professional.”
The image below is an example of the heatmap. For the real suggested metric values, see the videos below.
What’s included
- A very nice semi-hard shell zippered and padded carrying case
- Two insoles with 18 sensors
- Two rechargeable smart pods and a charger
- Two shoe clips
- Download the app (IOS)
- Premium subscription is extra – $5.99 per month
Notes: You are going to want the premium version.
Also, you don’t really need a tripod for video. There is a phone holder built into the carrying case.
What does it measure?
It measures 7 key pressure or ground force metrics in the golf swing.
You get scores or evaluations for each metric.
The basic force measurements are:
- Setup – evaluates the pressure distribution at address
- Backswing – evaluates the pressure shift to the rear foot from front foot
- Impact – evaluates the pressure distribution at the moment the clubhead is hitting the ball.
Advanced metrics:
- Max Vertical – maximum vertical pressure produced by the player
- Vertical Timing – evaluates the pressure peak during the downswing
- Transition Timing – evaluates the pressure shift toward the lead foot that occurs during the backswing
- Rhythm – evaluates the ratio of the backswing duration to downswing duration.
My initial thoughts
You don’t need to take video for the Smart Kit to measure your data. Example: I practice in the “Live View.”
That is just moving to the correct position for Address, Backswing, Impact and Follow Through. This does mean you need to know what those pressure numbers should be.
It works great in the house. To practice, I slowly repeat each of those individual positions in the golf swing.
You could do the same for putting, chipping and pitching.
The product is well thought out and a quality product. I recommend it.
It’s also a very handy product to use and easy to setup.
So far, I’ve only used it in the house. Why? I’m currently on injured reserve.
I purchased the subscription to take advantage of the full app and training options.
The insoles come in various sizes based on your personal foot size.
Does that limit their use?
I ordered XL insoles and my shoe size is around size 12. I was happy to see the fit is not all that snug.
They really could be shared with other golfers probably in the “large” category.
In other words, they will work if they fit in your shoe.
The instructions indicate that you should put the insoles under your current insoles.
Neither pair of my golf shoes have removable insoles. They work just fine on top of your insoles.
Cost
I was able to get 20% off ($559) just before the PGA Show 2025.
The full price is $699 in the US.
This is significantly less that most pressure mats systems with cameras.
How to use the BAL.ON system
Important: You will want to be connected to the internet. I prefer to use my iPad for which I have a cellular account (driving range or putting green) and internet connectivity at home.
I’m not going to go into extensive detail, but will include the instructional YouTube video from the company below.
Fully charge the Smart Pods before you start and download the app.
I created an account and paid for the premium version of the app.
Once charged, attach a Smart Pod to each Insole.
Slip the insole into your golf shoe and clip the Smart Pod onto the outside edge of your golf shoe.
Pair each Smart Pod with the app.

Paired Indication
From here you can choose a new session. That is a Video Session and Ai Coach.
The option I’ve been choosing is the Training Library.
Training Video Library
The first thing you see before the drills library is a question. Have you already tried the Traceline Drill?
This would be a drill prescribed by your coach.
After entering the library you see these.
- Setup Drill
- Backswing Drill
- Impact Drill
- Rhythm Drill
- Max Vertical Drill
- Transition Timing Drill
- Vertical Timing Drill

This is my feeling on these videos and ground force.
At 71 years old I need to swing within myself. My feet won’t be flying off the ground during my swing.
My issue is weight shift and sequencing in my swing. This product will help me measure that.

3rd Party Lesson (In operation)
This is a pretty good video review, but it’s a year old. Some of the issues they mention are not issues today.

Note: I don’t have a swing session to show you at this time, but here is what I can show you from home. (See video links above for more info on swing sessions)
