Building a good driving range practice setup has taken time, money and quite a lot of research. I’m finally comfortable with great technology and accessories. Let’s take a look.
Do some research and take your time when choosing the practice setup that is right for you.
I spent money on stuff I don’t use anymore because it didn’t really accomplish what I wanted and needed. I tried to purchase cheaper items. You get what you pay for.
Note: I stopped buying stuff the last couple years because I was pretty disappointed in previous purchases.
The biggest purchase I’ve made recently is the launch monitor. It’s well worth the money and is exactly what I’ve needed all along.
What I have listed below is what I’ve settled on over the last 7 years.

Major Item Explanation
This is really “why I use the major items” at the driving range.
FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 and add-ons
I’m very interested in the significant number of data sets / metrics that this device offers. That is including club data via the upgrades. It’s an extremely accurate device.
I had previously purchased a much cheaper launch monitor and it was not able to record data for chips and pitches, Plus, it was way off on longer clubs like the driver.
Bogeys 2 Birdies Leveling Stand
It’s critical to level the FlightScope Mevo+ 2023. The FlightScope software has a setup page that gives you live angles for level. The leveling stand gives you easy and closer adjustment than just trying to move the launch monitor by hand.
This alignment stand has a little bubble level built in. I still take a small digital level with me. Leveling the stand makes setting up the Mevo+ much easier.
FlightScope Mevo+ 20K Battery Pack
The new Mevo+ for 2023 has a 3 hour battery life. While I don’t often spend 3 hours at the range, I also don’t like being stuck without power. You can use the battery pack with you phone, iPad, etc. as well.
Hard Case for the Battery Pack
The Battery Pack comes with USB cables, but no hard case. It’s nice to have a case to keep things protected and all the necessary cables together with the device.
iPad 9th Generation
I bought this when I got a new phone about a year ago. My intention was to have an Apple device because some golf apps are IOS only. Now it’s handy to run FS Golf, etc. using the Mevo+. It also acts as the “operator” when using FS Multi-Cam.
INIU 20K Battery Pack
I bought this with my phone. It works with a USB light for power outages, etc. I use it in emergency power situations or when my phone gets low on power. Since I purchased the Mevo+, I use the INIU 20k Battery Pack with the iPad at the driving range.
Hard Case for the Battery Pack
The Battery Pack comes with USB cables, but no hard case. It’s nice to have a case to keep things protected and all the necessary cables together with the device.
Peastrex Tripod & iPad Holder
This is a more heavy duty tripod with an attachment to hold an iPad. It’s not professional grade, but it’s more heavy duty than the usual. The iPad holder is very good and secure.
SummitLink iPad Sun Hood
Why a sun hood? Because the anti-glare screen stick on I bought wasn’t worth a darn. I’ve tried the sun hood in bright sunlight and it works well. I think this is an iPad issue. Both of my phones work well with the brightness turned up. The iPad is almost unusable in bright sun light even with the brightness all the way up. The sun hood does the trick. I do not use the mount that came with the sun hood. The one that came with the tripod works better.
Titleist Shoe / Ball Bag – 2020
I bought this for range balls, not shoes. It’s a 2020 model because I liked the color better. It would hold about 120 golf balls or a pair of shoes.
Titleist Players Back Pack – 2020
Again, I liked the color of the 2020 model better than the new ones. There isn’t much with Titleist on it that is inexpensive. This is a great backpack and it holds all my range electronics listed above plus the leveling device with room to spare.
2 Amazon Tripods (for mulit-cam)
Multi-Cam is a Mevo+ function for up to 4 cameras. I video my golf swing. So I need adjustable tripods to hold two phones I use as video cameras. The iPad is the “Operator” where you can view, etc. the videos. I adjust one to hands high face on view and one in line with my hands from the back looking forward or target view.
2 Owine iPad or Phone Tripod Adapters
At the time of writing the article…I’ve found Owine products online, but not the exact iPad or phone tripod holder / adapter I bought. There are several other similar brands for iPads and phones. I’ve do have photos of these below.
The Amazon tripod heads flip vertical or horizontal. However, I like the ball swivel on these so you can adjust the image and square up the subject.
iPhone 13 Pro Max (refurb for multi-cam)
I originally bought this for IOS Apps that I use for putting. Now, I can use it for FS Multi-Cam along with my Samsung phone. The refurb was pretty much spotless. Excellent condition and works well.
FlightScope Multi-Cam App
This is an App you load on your phone(s) for example. Then the phones login to the Mevo+ internal Wi-Fi so the video recorded all ends up on the main device or in my case an iPad. Your swing triggers the app on all devices in use. Swings that are recorded are marked as such in the FS Golf App on your Operator or iPad. This works indoors or outdoors. The App is available for IOS or Android.
Note: These are obvious so I didn’t think a description was necessary. Camp Stool – Tripod Type – folding, Stepkick Caddy – Club Stand, Short and Long Golf Tees and Golf Glove FJ StaSof.
