It’s a great idea to research golf accessories. Not everything for sale is something worth buying.
Here are my thoughts on several I’ve accumulated over the years. Overall, my ratings are based on the question “Do these golf accessories help lower your score or make things easier?”
Sun Mountain Golf Bag
★★★★★
This is a great cart bag, not so good for carry.
My bag and accessories review Stuff I use all the time.
In the club section
Besides golf clubs, I have 4 alignment rods and a Callaway ball retriever.
I like all this stuff… the Callaway Ball Retriever is ★★★★★
Hanging on the bag
There is a bottle brush for clubs with soapy water on the right side. A brush for tougher scrubbing hangs next to it and is retractable.
On the left side, I have a club towel on a carabiner.
Golf Trunk Organizer by Samsonite
★★★★★
Our Review I use this one for travel to events. It’s for personal items, clean clothes, shoes, etc.
Golf Case / Glove Dryer Shaper
★★★★★
The “Go for it Golf” accessories holder with a glove dryer shaper is a first rate product. The case has a large zippered pocket for personal or golf items and comes with a glove dryer shaper for S to XXL gloves .
Travel Bag and Stiff Arm
★★★★★
I don’t travel as much as I used to.
When I did, I used the Club Glove Extra Large Pro Tour.
XL Crown Royal bags
★★★★★
I like these for different items. I use different colors for different things. Example: Green for golf balls I use regularly, Purple: Personal items, etc.
Coolflask
★★★★★
The Coolflask 64 ounce insulated water bottle is great for your favorite beverage on the golf course. This size holds plenty of ice cold water or electrolyte supplement for those hot days.
It keeps cold for up to 48 hours and hot for 24 hours.
Shot Scope Products
★★★★★
Shot Scope X5 golf watch
The Shot Scope X5 is a premium GPS golf watch with automatic performance tracking. Take your game to the next level.
Shot Scope Pro L2 Laser Rangefinder
The Shot Scope Pro L2 rangefinder is lightweight and accurate. It has a slope option that can be turned on and off. The price is right and it’s worth a look.
Drive Auto Trunk Organizer
★★★★★
I bought two of these. One is for on the course. I put it on the floor of the cart because I hate leaving stuff in a cart or having things flying around off the seat. It’s a good place for golf balls, tees, range finder, cooler, spray bottle, sun block, water, towels, scorecard book and green maps, etc..
The other one is for larger items having to do with putting practice.
Right now I only use half of each one, However, they expand to fit in a trunk. They have pockets also.
They are not really a golf items, but they help me organize things which is a big deal. I would buy these again.
Note: Even just half takes up the passenger side of the cart. I’ve not tried to put it in the cart back basket.
Travel / Camping Chair
★★★★★
This is one of the best golf accessories I’ve purchased. I bought it online and it’s a foldable tripod camp stool that has a shoulder strap and holds up 300 lbs. I’m pretty sure it was called TravelChair. I set this up in the shade next to the practice green just to rest or look at stats.
It doesn’t lower my score, but sure makes my back feel better.
A regular foldable chair with a beverage holder is good for the range. I have one of those also.
I would buy this again.
Driving range rubber tees
★★★
I’ve always had these. Half the time I haven’t had access to a grass range. Regular range mats seldom have the correct height. I bought set of 3 and cut them to the proper height. Not all range mats are the same thickness. I need to buy some new ones.
Doctor Scholl’s Odor X
★★★★★
It’s good to keep this in my game bag and practice bag along with bug spray. I do put it in my shoes, but it’s there to spray on my club face so I can see where I’m hitting the ball in relation to the sweet spot. I would buy it again.
MVP & Callaway Alignment Sticks
★★★
I like to have alignment sticks in my game bag and my practice bag. These are great, but overpriced.
Since I bought these, I’ve found driveway markers online. You can buy 20 of them for 30 dollars. I’m pretty sure I paid $20 for two alignment sticks. I may have spent $60 for six.
Callaway alignment sticks fold in half. So, if space is an issue they may be worth it.
I would buy alignment sticks again, but most likely cheaper ones.
Bushnell Yardage and Slope Rangefinder
★★★
I would rate this as pretty good…Now.
I’d buy one again, if I didn’t have one. Maybe not this brand.
This was not cheap. At the time I bought it, there just weren’t many options. The thing is good for 1,000 yards and has slope also. It was the only one they had so I paid up.
I mean it’s a tremendous device, but I’ve never been terribly steady with it. At first, I said this thing is great for finding the beer cart. It sat in my closet for years.
I needed to be leaning on something or steadying on something. Now, I use a cart and if I rest on the steering wheel, it gives me perfect yardage.
I have a Shotscope V3 GPS and Performance tracking watch which also gives me perfect yardage. Yet, I like to use the rangefinder to look at the pin location, front of the green, trees, etc. just to verify what I’m looking at.
Ok Golf Accessories
Monentus Swing Trainer
★★
I would rate this one as Ok. I use it during the winter mostly. It has 6 lbs of weight on it and looks like a shortened club with a grip trainer grip. There is an exercise DVD with the one I bought.
Since I bought it, I did a little upgrade with two small but high beam flash lights. I have one pointed directly at the leading edge of the club and the other pointing at my midsection.
I stand in the kitchen which has a tiled floor. That gives me a long line going behind me. In the backswing the object is to keep the light pointing down at a line on the floor and as I transition to wrist hinge the other light needs to be pointing at the same line.
It’s a winter swing plane and grip drill with a short club.
SKLZ Smash Bag
★★★
I like this for winter practice and is Ok. You don’t hit it hard. It’s all about position at impact. I take a quarter swing, square my club face and turn my hips like it was impact.
SKLZ Gold Flex Swing Trainer
★★
This is like an orange whip and is Ok. I like it, but you need to be careful with it. It depends how good of shape you are in. I don’t think swinging it hard is ever a good idea. I put it in the trunk for a little warm up along with stretching before a round. It’s weighted. I’ve hurt myself swinging it too hard.
Voice Caddie
★★★
This was great for quite awhile. It fits in your pocket or on your hat and gives your front, middle and back yardage from anywhere. It’s got 30,000 courses loaded on it. However, I use it for a backup device.
Now, I see all three yardages at once on my GPS watch that keeps my score and my performance stats.
Swing Caddie
★★
Again, I was in on the start of something and this never really panned out.
It gives you full swing stats. It’s a range device. It has problems with some shots. Like chips or really hammered drives.
I’m sure the new ones are very much improved. Also, 3 times the price.
I have two words. Range Balls. All these launch monitors do not work the same with range balls. Disappointing.
Pelz Short Game T-Square
★
I bought this in a weak moment. Alignment rods work fine. It’s handy and everything. Maybe I’ll give it another try this year. Don’t get me wrong I like some Dave Pelz stuff, but this one isn’t for me.
Senna Golf Tees
★
These are one of those golf accessories I thought I’d try once. I like these, but they are a little too much messing around for me. They are range mat short tees. They make the ball sit up just a little so you don’t slam the mat hurting your arms or elbows. The are bright yellow. You have to go and pick them up as they go flying.
Skylife Rubber Golf Tee Holder
★
I also, bought some range tees you stick up thru the mat and you put a real tee in them. I tried them once. The tee comes flying out and could easily hit you or the person next to you.
