I spend the winter months planning for Spring golf and practicing indoors. It’s a good time to go through stuff and regroup. I also added several new items. Let’s look at the new golf and putting accessories.
Review – Stepkick Caddy by Bronwcyk
Rating: I would buy it again
This is a really well made, light weight putter stand for around the green.
It would hold several clubs.
They advertise that it holds a cigar at a loop near the top. I plan on using a golf towel with a carabiner there.
They suggest you could take it with you playing cart golf and lean clubs up against it while playing around the green.
Keeping my clubs off the ground was my thought. Mostly for practice.
I take two putters to the practice green and hate laying stuff down on wet or recently fertilized greens, etc.
It wasn’t cheap, but it’s something I wanted for awhile.
Review: DEWALT 100 ft. tape measure
Rating: I would buy it again
Putting practice is one of my favorite things to do.
I continuously look for ways to set up faster.
That the key to this purchase. It’s a great product for use around the house or at the practice green.
I already had a 50 foot tape measure I bought back in the 1980’s. It is an American made metal reel in tape measure. It’s also very heavy.
Why the new tape? Well, it’s somewhat lighter and 100 feet long.
I like to set up drills longer than 50 feet.
It’s an awesome reel in tape measure.
Cost: $23.97 They are still widely available. There are cheaper alternatives.
Review: Craftsman Golf Alignment Stick Covers
Rating: I would buy these again
I keep my alignment sticks next to my driver.
How many times have I jammed my hand or my driver / headcover putting it away. Often.
I bought these for $13 a piece online. They are $25 each on the Craftsman website above???
They are nice golf accessories. The covers protect your other clubs and your hands.
You can put them over the end of the stick while in use also, Example: Full swing practice or chipping practice. They would offer some protection for your hands if you accidentally got too close.
Review: Alignment Pro Sticks
Rating: Don’t buy
Might be something a coach would purchase
Video – Stan Utley (This is what I want to do with this hinged stick) The idea is to set the alignment rod at the angle of your club shaft based on the club you are using.
This is one of the new golf accessories that I’ve wanted for some time. However, they are expensive in my mind for what they offer.
It’s a dual hinged alignment stick that lets you set the hinges at various angles. It’s something I will use on the driving range or for chipping practice.
Originally, the cost included a dual hinged alignment stick, a regular alignment stick and a head cover to protect your clubs from getting scratched or poked. The cost was a hefty $59 and change.
Why did I finally buy this kit? I really wanted a hinged stick for swing path, etc.
Here is the deal though. All of a sudden, they went “a la carte” with their products and raised prices a lot.
I quickly found a package deal for the original price at a local store. (less the head cover)
Note: You can buy a pack of driveway markers for a little over $20 and have a cheaper bunch of alignment sticks.
The bottom line
I am not going to recommend this product.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a fine product, but it was and is ridiculously expensive now. I sent messages to the company saying so.
Several major vendors no longer offer the product. (Out of stock, Don’t know when to expect more)
Makes me wonder if the maker is going out of business.
From the Alignment Pro site: Hinged stick – $89.95, Single Stick – $30 and Headcover – $19.95
$139.90 for two alignment sticks and a headcover? Ah No!!!
I paid $59.99 for the dual hinged stick and single stick package only because I really wanted to try them. I’ve been thinking about it for a couple years.
I bought two alignment stick head covers for $13 each online. They cover the new sticks and my existing sticks.
Note: Work around. Buy an angle finder or use a free angle phone app. Use a regular driveway marker.
Review: kcrygogo Golf Weights
Rating: Not sure yet
This is a 20 piece container of 10 gram lead weights. Something I intend on trying on my driver and / or putter.
I purchased the 10 gram weights rather than sticking a bunch of lead tape on my clubs.
I’m must going to try them out on my driver for now.
You peel off the backing and they stick like lead tape.
Note: There isn’t a lot of real estate on an iron. I can’t see doctoring up my irons. There is a lot of room for lead tape on a driver and it can make a difference. With the putter it would be mostly changing head weight in the colder weather or on slower greens.
