Drills Overview
I thought about this for a long time. I was thinking “How the heck are you going to manage green reading indoors?”
There are several possibilities.
- Buy an expensive indoor putting green
- Build one yourself
- Live in an old house with slope on the floor
- Buy EXPUTT RG with Slope and Slant
FYI – EXPUTT RG is $469 and PuttView is around $12,000 – $17,000.
Indoor Putting Drills: Green Reading
Just a heads up on EXPUTT RG. They give you the real greens in play mode based on Lidar imaging, but the background is not the actual background from the course you choose. I chose Sunny Valley for this one and the green is the 1st Hole at Pebble Beach.
I put the cheat sheet up on the screen. That is an option on the remote control. It tells you suggested putt options.
The vertical and horizontal break lines are animated giving you an idea of slope and slant. You also get a heat map indicating high and low positions on the green.
You can shift your aim line in the program or just aim to the right.
I was able to putt to the right of the hole without shifting my aim line in the program.
Why do I mention this? The memory foam bumper you putt into is only a foot wide. You could potentially putt off the mat if you aim too far right or left. Thus giving you no choice, but to move your aim line in the program.
I’ll be doing a review of this system shortly and will get into all the details.

Old House
My dining room floor has about a half a degree right to left break. It can be reversed from the opposite direction.
The front porch was made so rain would run off and has a 2 degree break left to right break. It can be reversed from the opposite direction.
I have putting mats in both locations.

Building a putting green yourself
I decided to include this. I’m just not that crafty to build one. This guy was.
