This is a review of my golf bag and a collection of golf accessories that I use regularly. Some things I’ve always had on or in my golf bag and others are fairly new.
Golf Bag
I use a Sun Mountain cart bag. It has tons of room.
There are two large zippered pockets on the sides, two small zippered pockets on the sides, and two medium sized pockets on the sides. One of the medium pockets is a plastic lined pocket or cooler pocket.
The bag has multiple pockets on the front also. On top front it has a semi-hardened pocket, then a zipper soft lined pocket, a medium zippered pocket and large zippered pocket.
It has on umbrella holder and plastic d-rings to attach external items. There are also a couple elastic rings.
The best part is it’s very easy to handle as it has hand grips for loading in several places.
You can slip the cart strap behind one of the front pockets to hold it on the cart. There is a safety strap on the back of the bag, but I’ve never used it.
Travel Bag and Stiff Arm
I don’t travel as much as I used to.
When I did, I used the Club Glove Extra Large Pro Tour.
There was plenty of room for my bag and clubs. The rest of the stuff, I’d take out to save weight and use a check bag for things like golf balls, shoes, etc.
I would wrap a large towel around the clubs at the top. The stiff arm holds things vertically, but I like the extra protection around the clubs at the top.
It’s still in really good shape after many years of use. It has bag straps in the inside, a zippered front, outside straps and wheels.
In the club section
Besides golf clubs, I have 4 alignment rods and a Callaway ball retriever.
The alignment rods are for the range or practice green.
I never thought I’d buy a ball retriever. However, I hit one in the water on our island green and fished around with an iron for a couple minutes. When I got back to the club house a gentlemen asked me if I found any good golf balls.
He was being sarcastic.
The one I purchased, I would highly recommend. It’s the Callaway ball retriever if you are going to get one.
I don’t fish for balls.
Just behind the club section, I keep a large BagBoy umbrella.
Hanging on the bag
There is a bottle brush for clubs with soapy water on the right side. A brush for tougher scrubbing hangs next to it and is retractable.
On the left side, I have a club towel on a carabiner.
Left side large pocket
This one is for several new golf gloves, extra towels, a couple extra zip lock bags and cans of spray for several uses.
I use Footjoy StaSof gloves and keep several handy because XXL gloves aren’t always available.
I have an extra club towel and an extra golf ball towel.
The cans of spray are SPF 15 sun block, Dr. Scholl’s foot powder and Skin So Soft Bug spray.
I use the Dr. Scholl’s for my shoes, but mainly to spray on my club face on the range. You can see where you are hitting the ball.
I ditched the Deep Woods Off. The Skin So Soft Bug keeps No-see-ums off as well as other bugs.
Other left side pockets
I rarely use these pockets. If I use a pull cart, I do put a couple bottles of water in the lined pocket.
Right side pockets
I don’t use these much. Several items I use hang on that side of the bag. Also, if there are two people in the cart I transfer items to the other side. I would keep a rain suit and warm vest on that side, but I don’t play in leagues right now.
There is plenty of room for The Perfect Putter products on this side as well.
Top front hardened pocket
I believe it’s made for range finder, but I keep my range finder in my cart bag.
This pocket is for my valuables, keys, practice putting golf balls, tees, ball markers, microfiber lens wipes and vending machine money. I keep most things in a zip lock bag so it isn’t all over the place. It’s just handy to have everything in one place before and after a round.
Middle front lined pocket
I put my phone in this one.
First bottom pocket
This one holds 3 phony golf holes, a Muscle Shoals Sound can koozie, ear plugs and my newest golf glove.
The phony golf holes are for pre-round practice on areas with little traffic. I seldom use the can koozie. The ear plugs are for the range when people just talk and talk and talk.
Bottom pocket
I keep a bag of short tees, a bag of long tees and a large Crown Royal bag with a dozen golf balls in this one.
Other Bags
Here is another article on my putting practice bag, range bag and playing bag. I carry a playing bag only when I’m using a cart. If I’m by myself, it fits perfectly on the floor. When playing with someone else, it collapses and fits into the rear cart cage.
This is a photo of one of two practice bags I have. One is for putting and the other is for the range.
I also have two larger trunk organizer bags. I only use half of each one. One I use for l practice when I bring more accessories or larger items. The other one I put on the floor of the cart when I’m playing and it holds everything I’m bringing that day.
