Target Holes – DIY

Last year I made some target holes hoping to use them with putting lasers. They did not work out for that because I put them in reflexive acrylic cases. They are 5 x 7 inches and work perfectly for long range lag putting targets. Let’s take a look.

The acrylic menu stands are six for about $20 on Amazon. The graphics can be printed off by clicking on the links below. The links are to PDF files I created that are like the ones above, but they say “Target Hole” on them.

There are dotted lines around them which will enable you to cut them out easily.

Target Holes Suggested Use

The menu holders come in packs of 3 or more. I believe I bought 6 for $20.

I normally take two to the practice green. If I take my larger practice bag, I could take all 6.

Set them up at 40 feet, 50 feet and 60 feet uphill and the same in the other direction downhill.

Again, the reason I don’t use them for laser aiming practice is that the beam reflects off the acrylic menu holder making it dangerous.

However, at a longer distance they are great targets.

I had been using quarter sized ball markers, but at 60 feet they are hard to see. Even on a flatter green.

Backstroke Length on Lag Putts

I’ve written about this before, but it can’t be overstated.

If you don’t practice lag putts, it’s difficult to “guess” on backstroke length in real time play on the course.

I practice up to 50 footers indoors and up to 60 footers on the practice green.
