The Perfect Putter

This is a great tool for finding the correct break and speed of putts. Putting can be practiced perfectly using The Perfect Putter.

What you see in the photo below is The Perfect Putter, an extension for longer putts, putting gates, the laser (which is on – see green dot) and the carrying case for the gates. The device itself comes with a nice carrying case as well. ★★★★★

You can use the device as a true roller or stimpmeter. I regularly check the speed of greens with it prior to a round.

Roll the ball down the device toward the hole. When you start rolling the ball in the hole you know you have lined up perfectly. To check the stimp rating, roll the ball from the zero mark on the side of the device. There are numbers on the side of the device so you can repeat, increase or decrease each roll.

This was expensive. In fact, over my golf budget. I thought about the purchase for this a long time. Now, I’m pleased with the purchase.

I use it outside and inside. Click here for an example of it set up inside.

How to use the Perfect Putter

I like to set up putts from 3 directions. Right to left breaking, left to right breaking and downhill putts. I like to set up putts between 6 feet and 20 feet. Changing it up each time I practice.

Why downhill? You are much more likely to three putt downhill putts than uphill putts. I have other drills for uphill putts.

I use a Pelz Putting Tutor in all three directions to line up putts on the correct aim line. Set the putting tutor in front of the Perfect Putter on the laser line.

I remove The Perfect Putter and start practicing. The ball sits right on the Pelz Putting Tutor. The object is to putt the ball with a square putter face down the aim line without knocking the ball bearings off the Putting Tutor.

I don’t do this every practice session as it’s time consuming.

Other Options

On days I don’t feel like messing around setting up “stuff,” I just put a ball marker down where I start the putt and put a tee for an aim point about a foot past the hole. I use the laser to locate the tee after I’ve rolled several balls into the hole using the Perfect Putter.

I’ve just purchased the H Alignment Aid that fits over the end of the Perfect Putter. It serves as an aim line device similar to the Pelz Putting Tutor. It stays in place when you remove the Perfect Putter so you have a consistent starting location and it has lines to square up your putter.

I like the putting tutors, but it’s tedious practice. I’m thinking somedays the H alignment Aid and a tee to aim at will be enough.

Conclusion

I would rate The Perfect Putter as a pro device, instructional device or for someone who is really into putting.

You can accomplish the same thing with an elevated aim line.

However, this product takes the human element out of lining up putts and finding the correct break.
